August 1946.
THIS CHAPTER: the Workers' Party of Korea was established on 24 June 1949 by a
merger of the northern and southern workers' parties.

WHY NOT CONTRADICTORY
They describe two mergers three years apart: first a northern party, then a
union of the northern and southern parties. The sources do not describe the
1949 merger further.
