Chinese Political History II: Chapter 9, Exercise 3 — Possible Solution
=======================================================================

TASK
List three claims about Taiwan that this chapter leaves unverified, and say
what source you would look for to check each.

THREE CLAIMS
1. How many states recognize the ROC.
   Look for: the ROC foreign ministry's list and an independent count.
2. The result of the 2024 Taiwan election.
   Look for: Taiwan's Central Election Commission results.
3. Current opinion on unification and independence.
   Look for: long-running surveys such as those by a Taiwanese university's
   election research centre, with the question wording, since results depend
   on wording.

ALSO UNVERIFIED
- Other countries' one China wording, and later US documents.
- The over-80-percent figure opposing "one country, two systems," which
  comes from a single source.

RULE
State the gap; do not fill it from memory.
