Challenge 1: Cycling Through the Four Review Views — Solution Walkthrough

Setup: Track Changes on, one sentence deleted and a new one typed in
its place, then cycling through all four Review views with nothing
accepted or rejected.

What each view shows:

  All Markup — shows the original sentence struck-through, and the
  new sentence underlined, both visible at once, in the reviewer's
  assigned colour.

  Simple Markup — shows only the FINAL result (the new sentence, as
  if it were already accepted), but with a small vertical change bar
  in the left margin next to that line, signalling a tracked change
  exists there without cluttering the actual text.

  No Markup — shows the document as it would look if every current
  change were accepted: just the new sentence, with the old one gone
  entirely, and no margin markers at all — it looks fully "finished"
  even though nothing has actually been accepted yet.

  Original — the mirror image of No Markup: shows the document as it
  would look if every current change were REJECTED instead — the old
  sentence intact, the new one not present at all.

Confirming the tracked changes are still fully intact:

Switch back to All Markup after viewing all three of the others —
both the struck-through original sentence and the underlined new one
are still there, completely unaffected by having viewed the other
three modes. None of the four views is itself an accept or reject
action; they only change how the SAME underlying tracked changes are
displayed.

WHY THIS WORKS AS AN ANSWER

This is the direct, hands-on confirmation of this chapter's own
warning box: No Markup in particular can look identical to a genuinely
finished, accepted document, but the tracked changes underneath are
completely undisturbed — switching views is purely cosmetic, never a
substitute for actually using Accept or Reject.
