Challenge 3: Roman-Numeral Front Matter Restarting at Arabic "1" — Solution Walkthrough

Section structure needed: exactly TWO sections, divided by one
Next Page section break (Chapter 3) — Section 1 for the front matter,
Section 2 for the main content.

Format Page Numbers settings, per section:

Section 1 (front matter):
  - Insert > Page Number > Format Page Numbers
  - Number format: i, ii, iii, ...
  - Start at: i (the front matter's own beginning)

Section 2 (main content):
  - Insert > Page Number > Format Page Numbers (with the cursor
    inside Section 2 specifically)
  - Number format: 1, 2, 3, ...
  - Start at: 1 (restarting the count, rather than continuing
    wherever Section 1's roman numerals left off)

WHY THIS WORKS AS AN ANSWER

Both the NUMBER FORMAT (roman vs. Arabic) and the RESTART BEHAVIOUR
(continue vs. restart at a specific value) are section-level settings,
exactly like margins, orientation, and header content covered earlier
in this chapter and in Chapter 3 — neither can differ across a single
undivided document, which is precisely why the section break is a
genuine requirement here, not an optional nicety. Applying "Start at:
1" specifically to Section 2 is what breaks the count's natural
continuation from Section 1 — without it, Word would otherwise
continue Section 1's own numbering sequence into Section 2 by
default (just switching the visual style from roman to Arabic
partway through, rather than genuinely restarting the count).

Notes:
- This is the exact print-book convention referenced in this
  chapter's own text: front matter numbered separately and
  distinctly from the "real" page 1 of the main content, a detail
  many published books and formal reports share.
