Challenge 2: An Unattended, Looping Trade Show Display — Solution Walkthrough

The two things to set up:

  1. From THIS chapter: Slide Show > Set Up Slide Show > select
     "Browsed at a kiosk (full screen)." This mode automatically
     loops the presentation continuously and disables manual
     navigation controls that would otherwise let someone accidentally
     interrupt or exit it.

  2. From Chapter 10: on the Transitions tab, set "Advance Slide" to
     "After" a chosen duration (e.g. a several-second delay per slide,
     ideally informed by a Rehearse Timings run from this chapter),
     applied to all slides via Apply To All — so each slide moves to
     the next automatically, with nobody clicking through them.

What would go wrong leaving it at the default "Presented by a speaker" mode:

That default mode expects a live presenter to be actively controlling
navigation — normally via mouse clicks or keyboard input to advance
slides, and typically allowing right-click access to on-screen
navigation controls, the ability to exit with Escape, and so on. At
an unattended trade show booth with no one physically present to
provide that input, the presentation would either sit frozen on the
first slide indefinitely (if Advance Slide were still "On Mouse
Click"), or remain vulnerable to a passerby accidentally exiting or
navigating it in ways a kiosk display specifically isn't meant to
allow.

WHY THIS WORKS AS AN ANSWER

This combines this chapter's own kiosk mode (which handles WHO/HOW
the show is controlled) with Chapter 10's timed Advance Slide setting
(which handles WHEN each slide changes) — the two settings solve
genuinely different parts of the same "fully unattended" requirement,
and both are needed together; setting only one would leave the other
half of the problem unsolved.
