Challenge 2: A Manually-Overridden Title Surviving a Master Slide Change — Solution Walkthrough

Steps:
  1. On one specific slide, in Normal view, select the title text and
     manually change its colour directly.
  2. View > Master Slide, change the title colour again to a
     different colour on the Master Slide itself.
  3. Return to Normal view and compare every slide's title.

What happens:

Every slide EXCEPT the one manually edited in step 1 shows the new
Master Slide colour from step 2. The manually-recoloured slide keeps
whatever colour was directly applied to it in step 1, completely
unaffected by the later Master Slide change.

Why:

Direct formatting applied straight to a specific slide's own
placeholder always takes precedence over whatever the Master Slide
would otherwise supply — the moment that title's colour was set
manually, that one property became disconnected from the shared
Master Slide definition for that specific slide, exactly as this
chapter's own tip box describes. Every other slide, having never had
its title manually touched, continues reading its colour live from
the Master Slide and updates correctly.

WHY THIS WORKS AS AN ANSWER

This is the Impress-side confirmation that the exact override
mechanism Word & PowerPoint Chapter 8 warned about for PowerPoint's
own Slide Master applies identically here — not a new risk specific
to Impress, but the same underlying "direct formatting always wins
over a shared definition" behaviour common to both applications.
