Challenge 1: Editing the Master in Slides — Solution Walkthrough

Steps:
  1. Slide > Edit Master.
  2. Select the title placeholder on the master itself, change its
     colour.
  3. Return to Normal view (close master editing).

Which slides updated:

Every slide currently using that specific master layout updates to
the new title colour — the same propagation behaviour as PowerPoint's
own Slide Master and Impress's own Master Slide.

Why this works identically to Word & PowerPoint Chapter 8 and LibreOffice Chapter 7:

This particular feature — a shared design definition that every
dependent slide reads from, updated centrally in one place — is
exactly the kind of "same underlying power, not a genuine gap"
difference this chapter contrasts against its own main subject
(animations and theming depth). Master editing itself is not one of
the areas where Slides has a smaller feature set; it works the same
fundamental way as the other two applications, just reached through
its own Slide > Edit Master menu path.

WHY THIS WORKS AS AN ANSWER

This exercise confirms that this chapter's own "simplicity over
depth" framing applies specifically to animations, transitions, and
theming customization — not to every single feature in Slides. Master
editing itself transfers with the same fidelity as everything the
LibreOffice course's own Chapter 7 already established.
