klingon_grammar1-9 Exercise 3: Relative Clauses ================================================ chuS Saj ngevbogh ghot'e' "The person who sells the pet is noisy." chuS Saj'e' ngevbogh ghot "The pet that the person sells is noisy." What is different: Both sentences use the same four words (chuS, Saj, ngev, ghot) and the same relative clause "Saj ngevbogh ghot" (object Saj, verb ngev-bogh, subject ghot). The only change is which noun carries the suffix -'e', the marker of the head noun, the one being described and the one that is "noisy": - in the first, ghot'e' is the head, so the person is noisy; - in the second, Saj'e' is the head, so the pet is noisy. English shows the same difference with who/that and with the order of the words. Klingon needs only the suffix.
