klingon_grammar1-3 Exercise 3: Taking Nouns Apart ================================================== (a) yaSpu'chaj yaS + pu' + chaj officer + plural (Type 2) + their (Type 4) "their officers" (b) DujmeywIj Duj + mey + wIj ship + plural (Type 2) + my (Type 4) "my ships" (c) Qo'noSDaq Qo'noS + Daq Qo'noS + at/in (Type 5) "on/at Qo'noS" (d) puqpu'vetlh puq + pu' + vetlh child + plural (Type 2) + that (Type 4) "those children" Why "Dujwijmey" would be rejected: It puts the possessive (Type 4) before the plural (Type 2). Noun suffixes must follow the fixed order Type 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, so the plural must come first: DujmeywIj. (The spelling is also wrong, as the I in -wIj must be a capital, but even with that corrected the order would break the rule.)
