conlangs1-4 Exercise 2: Toki Pona Translations =============================================== (a) "You eat fruit." sina moku e kili. (b) "The person is good." jan li pona. (c) "I am a good person." mi jan pona. (d) mi moku e kili. "I eat fruit." Notes: e marks the object. li separates most subjects from the verb, but not mi (I) or sina (you) when they are the whole subject. In (c) there is no verb "to be": jan pona just follows mi. What this shows: Toki Pona has almost no grammar machinery. A word's job comes from its position and from two or three small particles. There is no tense, plural or article, so context does the rest.
