conlangs1-3 Exercise 1: Building Esperanto Words ================================================= (a) mal- + bona = malbona "bad" (the opposite of good) (b) lerni + -ej- + -o = lernejo "school" (a place where one learns) (c) libro + -j = libroj "books" (the plural) (d) lerni -> lern- + -os = mi lernos "I will learn" How each step works: (a) mal- reverses the meaning of any word. (b) -ej- means a place for an action; add the noun ending -o after it. (c) -j marks the plural on nouns. (d) The verb root lern- takes -os for the future; mi is "I". Check that your forms keep the word-class ending (-o, -a, -e, -i or the verb tense ending) at the end.
