One possible answer:

  "This language exists so that two people who share no language can
   arrange a meeting and buy a meal without a dictionary."

Kind:  Auxlang (the motive is communication).

A design choice that follows from the purpose:

  Make the grammar fully regular (no irregular verbs) and the sounds easy
  for most speakers, because an auxlang must be quick to learn.

Other possible answers:

  - "...so that every sentence has exactly one meaning." Kind: engelang.
    Design choice: a grammar tied to logic with no ambiguous word order.
  - "...so that a mountain people in my story sound old and proud." Kind:
    artlang. Design choice: a sound system with hard consonants and a
    history of sound changes behind the irregular forms.

Your own sentence will differ. Check that the purpose names a goal, the kind
matches it, and the design choice really follows from it.
