Challenge 3: Hard Constraints vs. Tradeoffs -- Solution Walkthrough Question 1 (operating system) and Question 2 (manual control preference) are different in kind from Questions 3 through 5 because they determine which tools are even eligible to consider at all, rather than which of several already-eligible tools is the better fit. Being on Windows doesn't make Screen Studio a worse choice than Cap -- it makes Screen Studio an impossible choice, since it simply doesn't run on Windows at all. Similarly, Question 2 isn't really asking "which category is slightly better" -- it's asking which category of tool (automated vs. fully manual) the reader is even willing to use, which filters out an entire approach rather than ranking options within it. These two questions produce a hard yes/no split: a tool either survives them or it's eliminated from consideration entirely. Questions 3 through 5 (length, whether the tutorial needs to explain "why," and budget) are different: every tool that survived Questions 1 and 2 is still technically usable regardless of the answers here -- these questions are about which of the remaining options fits best, not about eliminating options outright. A tool with a 10-minute cap can still technically be used for content that would ideally run longer, just with a real tradeoff (splitting the video, or trimming content) rather than an outright impossibility. This is why the chapter treats Questions 3-5 as things to weigh against each other (and specifically warns against optimizing Question 5 at the expense of Question 4), while Questions 1 and 2 are resolved once, at the very start, before any weighing begins.
