Building the Template with AI Assistance
AI helps genuinely differently across the four categories from Chapter 2 — there's no single workflow that fits all of them. Build the structure first, then use AI to fill in realistic example content one section at a time, rather than asking for the whole finished template in one request.
AI's Role, By Category
Notion Templates
AI is genuinely useful for brainstorming a database's own property structure, drafting category lists, and generating realistic placeholder content so the template doesn't look empty when a buyer previews it. It's also useful for drafting the instructional text embedded inside the template itself, guiding a non-power-user through how to actually use it.
Canva Templates
AI image generation can produce design elements and imagery, following the same production discipline as Print-on-Demand Design's own Chapter 5: AI for concepts and graphics, but text and typography set manually — AI-rendered text is still unreliable enough that any placeholder copy or headings should be typed with real fonts, not generated as part of an image.
Resume / CV Templates
AI is useful for drafting realistic example/placeholder resume content so the template preview looks like a genuinely filled-in resume rather than an empty shell — not for writing an actual buyer's real resume content, since what's being sold is the template's own structure and design, not written career content.
Spreadsheet Templates
AI can help draft formula logic and structural ideas quickly, but every formula needs to actually be tested for correctness before it ships — a broken formula in a template sold as "professional" undermines the entire product in a way a cosmetic issue elsewhere wouldn't.
