"Templates" covers four genuinely different products, each built in a different tool, requiring a different skill, and delivered to the buyer in a different way. Picking a starting category shapes almost everything else in this course.
The Four Categories
Notion Templates
Productivity, project-management, and life-organization systems built with Notion's own databases, relations, and formulas. The most technically involved category — it requires genuine Notion-specific skill, not just visual design — but the resulting template is a real functional tool, which often supports the highest price point of the four. Delivered via Notion's own "duplicate" share-link mechanism, covered fully in Chapter 5.
Canva Templates
Social media post templates, printables, planners, and presentation decks, built entirely within Canva's own editor. Highly visual-design-focused with a low technical barrier — no databases or formulas involved, just layout, color, and typography. Delivered as a Canva template link (the buyer opens it and gets their own editable copy) or as exported static files.
Resume / CV Templates
Word, Google Docs, or Canva-format resume and cover letter templates. A genuinely evergreen niche — job seekers are a constant, non-seasonal market, unlike most of the holiday-driven demand in Print-on-Demand Design. Generally simpler to build than a Notion template, but benefits real typography and layout skill to look genuinely professional rather than generic.
Spreadsheet Templates
Budget trackers, business planners, and invoice templates in Excel or Google Sheets. Ranges from simple fill-in sheets to genuinely sophisticated templates with formulas, conditional formatting, and dashboard views — the more sophisticated end starts to resemble Notion templates' own technical depth.
