Model answer (claim: "Hungarians invented the ballpoint pen"):

1. Who applied for the patent, and when? Patent records show who filed and where, which tells us who the named inventor was.
2. Were there earlier claimants or designs? Earlier ballpoint patents by others may exist, so "first" needs checking.
3. What exactly was the contribution: the idea, the working product, or its commercial success? These can be different people.

Other sensible checks: a biography or museum source, the dates, and whether the person was working in Hungary or abroad. Any three reasoned checks are acceptable.
