huolympics1-7, Exercise 2: The choice Model answer: After the Games, athletes had to decide whether to return to a country in turmoil or stay abroad. Staying meant leaving families behind and possibly never returning; going home meant living under a government whose position was uncertain, and facing whatever followed. The reasons for each choice varied: fear, opposition to the government, hope of better prospects, family ties, loyalty. A fair account avoids judging either decision because the athletes faced real risks either way, their motives were mixed, and we judge from outside knowing how things turned out. It should report what they did and said, and mark where accounts differ. Figures and details should be checked.
