hufolk1-8, Exercise 2: Folk instruments

Model answer (three of several possible):

Violin: carries the melody in a village band.
Viola (kontra): plays rhythm and harmony, driving the dance.
Cimbalom: a hammered dulcimer with many strings, used by bands on the plain and later in concert form.

Alternatives: the hurdy-gurdy (drone and wheel, wandering musicians) and the duda (bagpipe, herdsmen's music and customs such as Christmas and Carnival). Regional balance differs, and names should be checked.
