hufolk1-3, Exercise 1: Matyó and Kalocsa Model answer: Matyó embroidery comes from Mezőkövesd and nearby villages in the north and is known for dense, many-coloured floral designs in satin stitch on costume and household linen. Kalocsa, in the south near the Danube, is known for bold, curving flowers in strong colours, often on white cloth, and for related painted decoration. Both were household and festive textiles, and both now also appear on tablecloths, blouses and souvenirs (check details).
