Exercise 3 - Testing a claim (sample answer)

Example: "the first underground on the continent". Define the terms first:
what counts as underground, and what counts as the continent. Then list
earlier or rival systems and compare opening dates in specialist transport
histories or the operator's own records. Prefer sources that give dates and
definitions. If the answer depends on the definition, say so and state the
claim in a narrower form.
