Any three of:
- Studied England and noted that the English centre-half marked the centre-forward man for man, which Hidegkuti's deep role was designed to exploit.
- Trained with the heavier English-style ball.
- Prepared for conditions similar to Wembley's (as usually described).
- Fielded a settled side that had played together for years.

England's difference: a short training session, selection by committee, and no special plan for Hungary's forward line.
