Exercise 1 - Solution The Aranycsapat (Golden Team) was the Hungarian national football side of roughly 1950 to 1956. Three results to name: 1. The Olympic gold medal at Helsinki in 1952. 2. The 6-3 win over England at Wembley on 25 November 1953, England's first home defeat by a team from outside the British Isles. 3. The 3-2 defeat by West Germany in the 1954 World Cup final in Bern, the defeat that turned the team into a national memory. A good answer also mentions that the team went unbeaten for a long run (more than thirty matches, depending on what is counted).
