Any two good questions, for example: What exactly does the licence or document say, and does it describe brewing on the site or only a right to brew? Is there evidence of continuous brewing since then, or were there gaps, moves or closures? Do other breweries make an earlier claim, and what is their evidence? Who wrote the claim, and do independent historians agree? A licence is evidence of a right, not of unbroken production.
