Any two:
- Neutral referees from countries that were not competing, so decisions were less likely to be read as national bias.
- A visible points system that everyone could follow.
- Mixed teams in equally silly costumes, which had a levelling effect.
- Rules agreed jointly in advance by the broadcasters.
