(a) Record. A date printed on a programme is a documented fact, though it is still worth checking against other sources.
(b) Legend. The riotous first night is a story that has been repeated so often that it feels like fact. It often has some truth in it, but the usual version is tidier than what happened.
(c) Memory. Your recollection is good for mood and unreliable for the year, the singer or the country that made the song.
