frlit1-5, Exercise 3: Agreement and difference Model answer (an example): Voltaire and Rousseau. Agreed: both judged ideas by argument and not authority, and both used publication to challenge the authorities, for which both were exiled or forced to flee. Differed: Voltaire admired civilisation, wit and English freedoms, while Rousseau distrusted civilisation, valued feeling and natural goodness, and quarrelled with Voltaire and other philosophes. Any two writers are acceptable if one agreement and one difference are given.
