KITCHEN PRACTICE 1 — Build a Complete Bowl, In Order ==================================================================== TASK Build a complete bowl - broth, tare, aromatic oil, noodles, and at least one topping - following the assembly order exactly. Check whether the seasoning feels consistent from first bite to last. WALKTHROUGH Step 1 — Have every component ready before you assemble. Hot broth, prepared tare, aromatic oil, cooked and drained noodles, and at least one topping (ajitama is the more approachable one if you're short on time - chashu takes a couple of hours). Step 2 — Ladle tare into the bowl first. Before anything else touches the bowl. Step 3 — Pour hot broth over the tare and stir. Make sure it's actually combined - you should see and taste no distinct pocket of unmixed tare anywhere in the liquid. Step 4 — Add the drained noodles. Only once the broth and tare are fully mixed. Step 5 — Arrange the topping(s), then finish with oil. Add your topping(s) on top of the noodles, then drizzle the aromatic oil over everything last. Step 6 — Taste through the whole bowl. Take a spoonful of broth near the start of eating, and another near the end. They should taste consistently seasoned - not stronger near the bottom, not weaker near the top. -------------------------------------------------------------------- WHY THIS MATTERS This is the reference version - the correct sequence, done properly, producing an evenly seasoned bowl. It's your comparison point for Kitchen Practice 2, which deliberately breaks the order to show what goes wrong.
